Aggregate producers in Jefferson City, Mo., are transforming the lives of a special group of residents within their community. Through fundraising and land donations, they helped to create Training for Life, the state’s headquarters for Special Olympics.

The company acquired the quarry operations of Richard J. Mertens, a Missouri-based business with two quarry sites in the St. Louis area. In a separate deal, Capital Aggregates acquired the sand and gravel operation of Dan Processing, which is located near Batesville in northeast Arkansas.

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) published its latest list of the nation’s top crushed stone producers at the start of 2025, basing its new rankings on data it collected about 2023 tonnages. Capital Aggregates is honored to have ranked 26th on this competitive list.

A Missouri-based company is putting a new spin on its educational outreach program and getting positive feedback from its school partners. The program, Kids Rock, is run by Capital Aggregates, which includes Capital Materials, Capital Quarries and Capital Sand.

Capital Sand Company was incorporated in Jefferson City, Mo., on August 8, 1973. On August 9, 2023, the company celebrated its 50th anniversary with luncheons for employees at all of its plants and a ribbon cutting with the Jefferson City Chamber of Commerce.
